Dear Community Partner,

The Civic Engagement Commission launched “It’s Our Money” earlier this year with the goal of engaging youth in decision making, promoting civic engagement, and introducing participatory democracy. The CEC received hundreds of ideas on what are some of the most pressing issues faced by young people today. In response, CBOs and non-profits submitted almost 50 project proposals that aim to address those very needs.

The CEC is now calling all New Yorkers ages 9-24 to participate in selecting which of these projects should receive funding!
  1. To choose the winners, vote for up to 5 projects on www.participate.nyc.gov and take these steps:
  2. Register for an account! (you must have an account to vote)
  3. Click on the voting button
  4. Check out the projects. You can sort by the borough you live in, or the type of projects you are most interested in. Or BOTH!
  5. Pick your projects and vote!
Don’t leave it to someone else. Make your voice heard! VOTE! It’s Our Money!

Please help us spread the word to any young people that you think might be eligible to participate in this civic engagement process. You can forward this email, tweet (#itsourmoney), or use any of the materials available on our social media kit. We are thankful for your support for participatory democracy. Feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,
