As professionals, stewards, and advocates dedicated to NYC’s parks and public spaces, we are at an exciting but challenging moment: population growth and demographic changes, development, innovation driven by technology and data, and a new focus on resiliency and sustainability are transforming the way we think about our city and our parks. With these opportunities and challenges in mind, NYC Parks and our partners at The New School, The Center for New York City Affairs and the Tishman Environment and Design Center, are bringing together thought leaders, experts, and stakeholders from a range of disciplines to explore the future of parks and public space in New York City.

On May 24, 2016, NYC Parks, in collaboration with The New School, will host Parks Without Borders: Ideas for the Next Generation of Urban Parks. Presented by the J.M. Kaplan Fund with support from Citigroup, Inc. and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, this summit will kick off a yearlong dialogue on the complex role of open space in today’s cities. Collectively, our thoughts and ideas will shape the future of parks and open space to meet the needs of present and future generations. Please join me on May 24 for a full day of inspiring discussion as we explore the role of design, innovation and participation in the ongoing development, activation and conservation of our city’s diverse recreational and ecological resources.

We are pleased to offer a spot in our early registration period to you. Early registration ends April 22 and all spots are distributed on a first-come basis. For more information on the summit and to reserve your spot, please visit our registration page.

If you would like to recommend an individual, please email pwbnyc@parks.nyc.gov and we will distribute additional invitations based on availability.
