Changes to the Roadway Network from Friday, May 29, 2015 until Monday, June 8, 2015
Based on new & current information as part of West Portal construction for the Pacific Park Brooklyn project, utility work will require temporary closures of Sixth Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street that will necessitate the temporary detour of vehicle and pedestrian traffic from the affected block. In addition, work will occur over the weekend during the daytime hours. The closures will be in effect during the following times:
- Night Closures (10 PM to 6 AM) – Friday, May 29th
- Weekend Work (8AM to 4PM) – Saturday, May 30th to Sunday, May 31st (Sixth Ave will be open during this weekend, however surrounding work zones will be closed)
- Continuous Closure – 7 AM, Tuesday, June 1st through 5 AM, June 8th Over the weekend from 10 PM, Friday, June 5th through 5 AM, Monday, June 8th, Atlantic Avenue will be narrowed to 1 lane eastbound and 2 lanes westbound.
During the nightly and continuous closure times outlined above, crosswalks across Atlantic Avenue at / from S. Portland Avenue will be closed, as pedestrians must follow the sidewalk along the north side of Atlantic Avenue to later reach points south.
Traffic Enforcement Agents (7AM to 10PM) and flaggers (10PM to 7AM) will be onsite to assist with vehicular and pedestrian movements. Variable Message Signs will direct vehicles to the approved detour routes.
