The Green Maintenance for Buildings Program is a 10 week training program that prepares individuals to become janitors, custodians, and handy workers in commercial and residential buildings.

 

Classes are held 9 AM to 4 PM Monday thru Friday. We are accepting applicants with and without a High School Diploma or GED at the time of application.

 

The first step in applying is to attend an orientation and complete a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). Orientations are held on Tuesdays at 10 AM sharp.

Applicants do not need to register for Tuesday orientations, but must show up on time. Late comers may be asked to return at another time.

Orientations usually last about 3 hours. Our location is 25 Chapel Street. 4TH FLOOR, Howard Building

Our 10:00 AM orientation schedule will resume:

                                               Tuesday, August 4, 11, 18 & 25, 2015

                                               TuesdaySeptember 1, 15, 22, & 29, 2015

Basic requirements for program participation for this cycle are that applicants should be:

  • Unemployed or under-employed
  • Able to attend class regularly and on time
  • Able to pass a TABE test at the 8th grade level
  • 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Physically fit and able to operate machinery like floor buffers and strippers.
  • Limited or minor criminal convictions. RAP Sheet or Court dispositions will be required.
