FYI: From Presentation at May CB8 Meeting

I am reaching out to you all about an exciting project our Perch Advisors team is involved in–for background, Perch Advisors is the Operations/Admin manager for the North Flatbush Avenue BID. Perch Advisors has joined with the Haitian American Caucus, and East Flatbush Community Development Corporation in supporting community engagement for a collaboration with Dollaride, a Brooklyn-based company that provides improved and affordable access to fixed-route transportation in communities with limited public transit options. Your community district may or may not experience these limitations, but does host dollar van routes in and around your neighborhoods. We would gratefully appreciate your support in spreading the word about our project and soliciting community feedback, ultimately we would also be interested in gaining a letter of support from the Board.

Dollaride was recently named as a finalist for NYSERDA’s Clean Neighborhood Challenge. The prize will enable Dollaride to electrify dollar vans and install charging stations across Brooklyn and Queens, starting along Flatbush and Utica Avenues. Community engagement is extremely valuable to us and to this effort. We would like to have a conversation with you (or your members if timing allows) about this opportunity. We’re particularly interested in hearing the community’s impression of dollar vans, and their experience and expectations of using this service.

HERE   is a one-page brief for member distribution
HERE   is a survey that seeks to solicit feedback from current and potential dollar van users as to how the service can better serve their ongoing transportation needs

Additionally, we will be hosting two community meetings in upcoming weeks, to share more in-depth information about the project and gather feedback– UPDATED rsvp links included:

In order for this project to come to fruition, we need the support of the community, and community-based organizations like you. Would you share the above survey link and invitation to our public forums with your community? We have attached some potentially helpful graphics for distribution.

If the timing allows, would there be an opportunity in the coming weeks to present this project with your transportation and/or environment committees, and potentially the full board? Alternately, if timing does not allow, we would be happy to share more via a smaller group or Executive Committee. If this project is exciting to your community, we’d love it if you would consider writing a letter of support for Dollaride’s NYSERDA grant application. We would be happy to assist with any specific talking points.

We welcome any questions or comments, please reach out to learn more about this initiative.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
James Ellis
