• Residents who normally receive Tuesday trash collection should hold their material back until their next collection day, if possible. Residents will not be penalized for placing material at the curb between 4 p.m. and midnight Tuesday evening, however collection may be delayed, as is common after all holidays. We appreciate patience as we work to collect the backlog of material.
• Residents who normally receive Tuesday recycling collection should place their material out at curbside between 4 p.m. and midnight on Monday, November 9 for pickup on Tuesday, November 10.

Additionally, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 3 in observance of the holiday.

About the New York City Department of Sanitation
The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) keeps New York City healthy, safe and clean by collecting, recycling and disposing of waste, cleaning streets and vacant lots, and clearing snow and ice. The Department operates 59 district garages and manages a fleet of more than 2,000 rear-loading collection trucks, 450 mechanical brooms and 705 salt spreaders. The Department clears litter, snow and ice from approximately 6,500 miles of City streets and removes debris from vacant lots as well as abandoned vehicles from City streets.
