New Yorkers 65 and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.  To schedule an appointment, go to https://vaccinefinder.nyc.gov to find a location near you. You can also call 1-877-VAX-4-NYC to make an appointment by phone. You must make an appointment to receive the vaccine.

Appointments are fluctuating based on vaccine availability. As a result, you may hear there are no appointments, and that there are thousands – this will continue to change. It will take some time until production and distribution are increased enough to have the supply of vaccines catch up with the demand. We expect new appointments to be booked up quickly as they come online and individuals are encouraged to keep checking the website and contacting the hotline for availability.

The City is working tirelessly to bring new distribution sites online, especially focused on hardest hit communities and locations with high concentrations of older adults. Just yesterday, the Mayor announced sites opening at three senior centers within NYCHA complexes this weekend. We look forward to more coming online in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, scammers are calling and promising New Yorkers that they will be placed on a reservation list in exchange for a fee or a deposit. This is simply not true. We ask that New Yorkers not share any bank account, Social Security or credit card information with anyone promising easy access to the vaccine in exchange for this information.

Getting the vaccine helps protect yourself and others but we must continue to be vigilant about reducing the spread of the virus. This includes wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance, washing hands regularly and staying home when you are not feeling well except to access health care. If people want to get tested for COVID, the city sites remain open and free for all. For a list of local testing sites, please visit this website or you can text “COVID TEST” to 855-48.
