Groove on the Green: Cultivating Liberation in Urban Green Spaces brings communities together through greenspace in urban lands and celebrates how land and liberation are intertwined.

Held on the date of NYC Pride, this event centers queer, transgender, and gender non-conforming farmers, urban gardeners, and land stewards––especially those who are Black, Indigenous, and Brown. An alternative to corporatized Pride events, we will uplift the ways that Black LGBTQIA2S+ liberation is tied to the land preservation, protection, & cultivation, as well as center the people who are engaged in that work.

With live DJs, food, Bomba performances, demos/workshops, panel discussions and a seed swap, attendees will explore the various ways we can connect to land, nature, and the environment in urban spaces.  Beginning at South Pacific Playground and continuing at the WHC campus, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss food as medicine and its ties to holistic healing alongside the culturally specific foods being grown across the city.

This event is curated in partnership with Qiana Mickie  & Sunny Vazquez and co-presented with QJM Multiprise.
