I would like to inform you that the Department of State will be hosting a public hearing on June 9, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Brooklyn Borough Hall. The public hearing will enable us to continue collecting evidence to see if a Cease and Desist Zone is warranted for Brooklyn. Chapter 581 of 2021 requires the Department of State hold a public hearing and conduct an investigation to determine if additional real estate cease and desist zones should be established in all or part of Brooklyn. Cease and desist zones are designed to help prevent aggressive real estate solicitation from brokers, agents, or real estate speculators that target private residences.

To comply with this law, I am asking for assistance in promoting the public hearing as well as gathering evidence of aggressive solicitations in your district. Your constituents can file complaints using our online form: https://dos.ny.gov/cease-and-desist-zones. If your constituents have hard copies of flyers or mail that they have received that would be helpful in our investigation. Any assistance that your office can provide in gathering those materials would be appreciated. I can work with your office on a way to get us that evidence.

Please let me know if you have any questions
