A message from NYC VOTES...

In addition to local offices like Mayor, you will also have the chance to vote on five ballot proposals this November 2nd.

These proposals would amend the New York State Constitution, which means your rights are directly on the ballot. It is up to New York voters like you to vote “yes” or “no” on whether to accept each proposal.

These are the five proposals on the ballot this fall:

  • Amending the Apportionment and Redistricting Process. This proposal would reform the redistricting process that determines representation across the state.
  • Right to Clean Air, Clean Water, and a Healthful Environment. This proposal would provide the right to clean air, clean water, and a healthful environment to all New Yorkers.
  • Eliminating Ten-Day-Advance Voter Registration Requirement. This proposal would allow the State Legislature to pass new laws that give New Yorkers more time to register to vote.
  • Authorizing No-Excuse Absentee Ballot Voting. This proposal would allow the State Legislature to pass new laws that give more New Yorkers the option to vote by mail without providing an excuse.
  • Increasing the Jurisdiction of the New York City Civil Court. This proposal would allow NYC Civil Courts to hear and decide claims up to $50,000 instead of $25,000.

You can find full summaries of each proposal in NYC’s official Voter Guide, which will be mailed to every registered voter and available online this October.
